Harvey

Harvey applies Claude to legal services, and the most specific claim attached to it comes from a Code with Claude event in May 2026: every wave of capability (emergent reasoning, then agentic automation, then planning) demanded a complete re-architecture of the platform.

Anthropic's "Powered by Claude" page, last updated 15 September 2025, files Harvey under communications and business intelligence, next to Day.ai, Dust, Gamma, Otter.ai and Parcha, for streamlining legal workflows. That is one line in a catalogue whose centre of gravity sits elsewhere: Cursor, Replit, Devin, JetBrains, CodeRabbit and a dozen further coding tools. Harvey is one of the few entries where the model meets a regulated profession rather than a developer's editor.

The May 2026 statement is what makes the name recur. Michael Segner's startup guide, published 20 August 2026, gives the same posture a name in its fourth rule, build to rebuild: model capability moves, so little is treated as permanent, and Commure sets the end criterion for a rebuild as the moment the old path has disappeared. In that guide the unit being rebuilt is a workflow or a service, cheap enough that git worktrees cover the exercise. Harvey describes rebuilding the platform itself, once per capability wave, under the constraints of legal work. What that cost, and who checked the claim, is not recorded.
